Treat Mother to a Unique Pre-Mother’s Day Excursion!
Gig Harbor Rent-A-Boat and Charters is offering a picnic excursion on May 12. Take mother out on a kayak for an adventure she will never forget! Join Gay, a long-time Gig Harbor resident and avid kayaker, on a half-day trip along the shoreline to Narrows Park. Watch for seals and eagles and take in the serenity of being out on the water. Travel underneath the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, while paddling over “Galloping Gertie.”
Once at the park mothers are treated with a picnic spread complete with cheese and tea sandwiches. After beach combing and paddling back, mothers will receive a photo memento of the trip.

The inaugural Gig Harbor Paddlers Cup and Expo will feature competitive paddle racing for kayaks, canoes, and SUP (stand up paddle boards), benefiting the Gig Harbor Kayak Club and Surfrider Foundation. The event will take place at Skansie Brothers Park in downtown Gig Harbor on April 28th and 29th, 2012.
Races in the harbor will range from novice to expert, while a complete expo of watercraft sports will be on shore. Demonstrations will be held by many water sport vendors and enthusiasts throughout the two-day event.
Vendors booths will be set up for expositions, demonstrations, and conversation all weekend at Skansie Brothers Park. Races will be off Jerisich Dock at Skansie Brothers Park, and will be viewable from many areas throughout the harbor.
